Moving happens at least a few times in everyone’s life so isn’t it great if we can save money in the process? I know, it’s tiring to move so we just want to get it over with but with some simple tips, we can save money and make our experience better as well.

The worst part about asking your friends to help with moving is that you have to treat everyone to dinner afterwards anyway, which cost just as much money. You might as well hire professional help to do the job instead.

Unlike the actual moving part, I strongly suggest that you pack your own boxes for your move. Professional packers are not for the average person because they might spend days doing it for you and it will cost you.

Moving the boxes in neat piles and close to the front door will save movers time that day and ultimately save you money as they charge by the hour. It’s not easy, but it’s your money that you are saving.

If the movers like you, they will want to help you. Happy people are also more productive and work faster. When they are tired, offer them a soda. Never ever boss them around.

One person should know the move inside out and can answer every question that the movers will have. Ideally, it would be bets if everybody knows and don’t contradict each other.

Getting a set price may not be what you are looking for because owners will try to pad it as much as possible to reduce their risk. The end result is a higher than normal bill. You may want to get an approximate price and give them a price ceiling that you will not cross.

As with everything else, there’s always room for negotiations. The standard tricks apply so don’t ever commit until you get the deal of your life. In this environment, there will be stiff competition which will also help.

Always compare different quotes from movers. Don’t trust that the company you are talking to will give you a fair price so always tell the first company you talk to that you will get back to them.

Some companies save you time by allowing you to keep everything in desks and drawers so you don’t have to pack them. They tape them up and move it for you. These save lots of time so the lazy ones can look into this.
